I had a good time but did terrible in terms of the actual trivia. There were 2 rounds with 20 questions each. A few questions had bonus questions for extra points and some required knowing multiple answers for just the one point. There was a lot of comic book stuff that I knew nothing about, and there first 4 or 5 questions were about a comic book I hadn't even heard of. Although, from the crowd reaction, most other people hadn't either. I only got 1 point in the first round, and that was on a cereal question - who is the Fruit Loops mascot? - which wasn't particularly geeky anyway. I did a lot better in the second round. 8 points since there were Buffy and Battlestar related questions, plus some help from a friend who showed up by that point and a random guy sitting next to us who wasn't playing but would tell us an answer when he knew it.
There was a tie for first place at the end of the first round, and it was broken by a question about a John Waters film. I heard that there was a tie at the end of the second round too but wasn't paying as much attention by that point. Not sure if there was attempt to break it with more questions first, but eventually, I did hear something about push-ups about to happen.
Oh, and the prizes that I heard were bar tabs, so like, $30 for 1st, $20 for 2nd, $10 for 3rd. I thought the host mentioned other prizes earlier in the night, but the bar tabs are all I heard called out.
Anyway, Vendetta isn't a place I frequent, or ever go at all on my own, but I would go to Geek Trivia again cos it was neat, and may as well go when there's a chance of getting food & drink for free. Although, the veggie/vegan sloppy joe I ate was kinda gross, and the other vegan sandwich I had there over the summer wasn't particularly memorable. Plus, they only had 3 beers on tap and nothing I liked (Trumer Pils, Rainer, Avery IPA). My friend got nachos. The real deal with cheese. They were HUGE, and I don't remember her commenting on the taste, but I tried some, and they were sure tastier than my sandwich.
