Our story begins on the morning of New Year's Day, 998 RY (Rose Years). Nearly a millennium has passed since the Year of Sorrow and Blood, when the ancient empire of Nerath, besieged by foreign armies and fractured by internal strife, finally collapsed into oblivion. Since then, kings and kingdoms have come and gone, none able to maintain their strength for more than a generation or two, and the lands of the West are now a patchwork of shifting duchies and provinces vying for power.
You and several companions have agreed to accompany the dwarven merchant Angus Blackley from your home in Chesterfield to the the bustling coastal city of Kelton. After an uneventful week of travel along snowy winter roads, Blackley has turned onto a side road leading to Wintergate Valley, in the foothills of the Stanton's Wall. "Just a quick detour," he assures you with a smile. "I know you're eager to lay eyes on the Silver Sea, but I've one small delivery to make, and then we'll be on our way. We'll be back on the King's Road by tomorrow afternoon."

So, yeah - let's figure out a night to play. This coming week probably wouldn't work for me, but perhaps sometime the week after - May 11th to May 15th?
As far as game stuff goes, we'll just be using stuff from the core books. I'm deliberately leaving the setting fairly vague, as this will just be a one- or two-night game, and so that whatever background you'd like your character to come from will be fine. For those of you I've received backgrounds from: did you already know each other prior to being hired by Blackley?

Hey, Mikey here... So, yeah - let's figure out a night to play. This coming week probably wouldn't work for me, but perhaps sometime the week after - May 11th to May 15th? I could do; the 12th, 13th, or 15th. I would prefer to do the 12th or 13th. . For those of you I've received backgrounds from: did you already know each other prior to being hired by Blackley? What if we did not know each other until the journey to Kelton? If we where on the road together for the last week it would have given us time to get to know one another, but not many details.

Yeah, that works for me if it works for everyone else. Incidentally, for those that have already made characters, what were your names going to be? Franco, I got yours, but what about Mikey and Michael. And what about alignment?

My character's name is Baader. He's neutral, and worships... I don't know, one of those neutral gods. I wrote it on my character sheet, I think.
You mentioned we're traveling from our home in Chesterfield to Kelton. I think I'd prefer to be from Kelton itself, and I'm (somewhat reluctantly) returning home to take care of some unfinished business. So that's my state of mind when the quest begins. And any those days work fine for me.

I like the 13th best for playing, but the 12th would work too.
Jhur'vaal is unaligned.
As for how long we know each other, either way works... maybe we sorta knew of each other or saw each other around town before but didn't really meet until being hired?

Why don't we say the 12th then? I think that would work best as far as Elias is concerned.
So three unaligned characters, and yeah, why don't we say that you folks hadn't met prior to being hired by Blackley, but had seen each other around and were familiar to each other.
Rad! See you guys then, if not before.

Hey, Talik here. I'm pretty sure I can make this on the 12th. I'm reading up on the 4e rules now, and I'll try to have a character by then. I'm thinking maybe a wizard.

But it'd be rad if you could make it!

I still need to select my feat and equipment. Should I try and get that done before coming over?
We have a library copy of the book so that would not be a problem, but Harry could you post my ability scores? That will help me select my feat.

What's left to finish for character creation? Feats and equipment? I'm going with the Improved Misty Step feat for my guy. It lets him teleport 2 squares more (for a total of 5) when opponents he's cursed go down, and I think that's the same amount he can teleport by using his eladrin ability too.
Also, I'll get a quick background up here later today.

Mikey - Either at home or tomorrow night, I'm fine with either one. I don't think it should take very long. I'm at work right now, but I'll try to post your stats when I get home. Also, will you guys bring over your copy of the PHB? I'm hoping there won't be too much rules-referencing, but it can't hurt to have an extra book.

It ok if I show up a bit early so we aren't fighting over books while we finish up our characters?
