and thanks for the flexibility on the attacks. That makes a lot of sense. The attack was one of the big problems with a non-war horse.

Also, would you be willing to let me "forgo" the ranged weapon (worth 300gp) and equipment or potions (worth 100gp) in order to purchase a heavy warhorse (worth 400gp)? We could either call this the companion, or I could select a different companion, and we would just treat this as a purchased horse. As low-level grunts, you would not be given steeds as fine as warhorses. Nor would you receive any kind of equipment other than standard issue. You'll all pretty much start out as fodder for the war machine. Survive, and you will be rewarded. The animal companion has to be a regular horse, but maybe along the way you could pick up a warhorse as a regular mount. And you can always switch out your companion down the line for a non-mount. It takes 24 hrs, but there will definitely more than enough time between most of the scenes.

ok. Sounds good. Yeah, some of the higher level companions would actually make pretty good mounts. I could swap out to a non-horse at level 4. But also, the biggest problem with the horse was the attack modes, but with training it sounds like that will go away.

But also, the biggest problem with the horse was the attack modes, but with training it sounds like that will go away. Oh yeah, I hadn't even thought about that. If there's any particular creatures that come to mind, let me know. Updating the stats isn't all that hard, mostly just skills and combat maneuver bonus, and sometimes eliminating racial bonuses, so it could be done on the fly if need be. Speaking of on the fly... each night/session of this one-shot will include 2-3 scenes (for a total of 5), which means that I think there will be time to level up in between some of the scenes (which will also depend on how well you do, and therefore, advance). I know we haven't done this kind of thing before, and it might seem an odd thing to try with a newish system, but I think it'll be pretty easy as long as players have an idea of the direction they want to go, and I'm going to allot a half hour for it, so hopefully, it can get done during that time without feeling rushed. Does that sound reasonable?

ok. I could level up pretty easily. And I'll take another look at the level 4 companions and let you know what direction I'm thinking. I couldn't get one for another two levels, so it's not a big deal at the moment.

Hey, Reefwood, when were you thinking about running this again? I want to play Mouseguard soon, but I don't want to step on your toes.
Also, I started rolling up a character the other night. I think I'm going with human wizard.

Hey, Reefwood, when were you thinking about running this again? I want to play Mouseguard soon, but I don't want to step on your toes. Good question! I still have a bunch of prep to do... well, most of it really, but I also just realized that since this adventure will be broken up into two sessions, so only half of it needs to be ready for the first night. Anyway, I won't be ready next week, especially with Pedalpalooza still going on, but the following week would work. How does Tuesday, June 30th or Wednesday, July 1st work? I know Weds usually don't work for icnivad, but since it's an open evening for me, I thought I'd throw it out there anyway. If neither of those dates work for everyone, which evening the following week would (July 5-11)? Also, I started rolling up a character the other night. I think I'm going with human wizard. Sweet. Looks like there'll be a human wizard, half-orc rider (drd), and some kind of archer (ftr/ran?). I still need to figure out something for the rapid repeating crossbow, but I'm about to head out on another ride, so hopefully, sometime later this week.

Cara's going to have classes on Tuesdays and Thursdays for a few weeks, so that Wednesday would probably work better. If it came down to it, though, I could maybe do Tuesday if folks didn't mind playing at my house.

Sorry guys, Wednesdays' are pretty much out strait from now till Burning Man. Just too much to do. Thursdays work really well, and I could do Tuesdays, too. I don't mind playing at Enric's house. He's got a pretty good table for the game, anyway.
My character is built and ready to roll... er... ride.

Okay, so let's say Tuesday, June 30th at Harry's house? 8pm? Or I could start earlier if everyone else can too.
Also, Enric & Rabbit... let me know when your characters are ready. Once all the PCs are all set, I'll post some pre-session info. And could everyone let me know their AC, saves, feats, and top skills?

The only day that week I could play is that Thursday... I can't remember if that worked for other people or not. And I can make my character up pretty soon. Franco, where you going to do anything with that repeating crossbow idea? If you do not feel like it that is totally fine. I was just holding off on character creation until I had a chance to look those over. (I am still going with the sharp shooter idea, but not sure what specific classes/feats I wanted yet.)

How about the following week? Tues the 7th or Thurs the 9th?
