SchedulingHow do people feel about finishing Chapter 18 in two weeks at 6pm on Wednesday, June 22nd or Friday, June 24th? Another option could be at 7:30pm on Sunday, June 19th, but I don't know if that would be too soon for Rabbit since he gets back just the day before? This session will be relatively short. I'd say only 1-2 hrs as long as we stay focused, and I'm also happy to call it over at the 2-hr mark if someone needs that to make this work for their schedule. The 19th might be too soon so it might be better to just asume it's a no. The 22nd should be fine with me.

The 22nd works. Interesting about phantom steed. So, when a wizard can first cast the spell, they can only carry 50 lbs of gear?

And yep, that looks correct for the CL 5 weight limit and sounds right about for a Wizard too. They're not known for carrying lots of gear on their selves, and it makes sense that a fast mount requires lighter loads.

Game Night
We are set to conclude Chapter 18 this evening at 6pm. This will be a very short session - maybe just an hour or so to wrap up the current encounter - and I plan on finishing by 7:30pm, so feel free to plan accordingly. Any post-combat stuff that isn't done by then can be completed online.

Re: Shadow Demon - incorporeal & magic jarBecause this might come up again: Thanks for posting this. I was a bit confused about an incorporeal creature doing regular hit point damage, since like Micheal mentioned, they often do ability damage, but hit point damage is generally considered "weaker" than ability damage, so I guess if a creature subtype can do "stronger" type of damage, it isn't too strange that other forms can deal a "weaker" type of damage. However, I wasn't sure how this would interact with DR. Usually regular hit point damage is reduced by DR, but it turns out that touch attacks aren't affected by DR, so the shadow demons should have been doing full hit point damage against the Leader Mage with stoneskin. At least it didn't really make any difference this time since by the time the shadow demons got to him, he wasn't able to cast spells or attack anyway. Also, the magic jar works differently than we played it, and there are a few ways for the caster or target to die while their soul is elsewhere. The initial casting only transfers the caster's soul to the magic jar. Then, on the next round, the caster can try to possess a target by using a full-round action, and it requires a standard action to leave the target and return to the magic jar. If the target succeeds on a Will save, you cannot try again with this casting, but you can still target other creatures. Another important factor is that the target is chosen somewhat randomly, so you cannot choose a specific creature as a target unless it is the only one in the area or it is significantly stronger or weaker than all other creatures in the area. Anyway, attempting to posses the first target requires 2 rounds and will leave the caster prone on the ground, and trying to posses other targets is 1 standard action each, and returning to your body is 1 more standard action, so using this spell can leave you out of the action for a few rounds. Additionally, it is a bit odd as a spell-like ability since it does not require a focus, and the focus for this spell does have pros and cons. After giving this some more thought, I want to say that there will simply be no focus (or the pros or cons) for using this spell as a spell-like ability. The range of the spell will be based on the distance to the caster instead of the jar, so if either soul is forced out for whatever reason but the bodies are out of range, the caster and target both die, and on the flipside, there will be no jar to destroy (which could normally also result in either or both deaths when out of range). Form of Dragon I - vulnerability One thing that I forgot is that taking red dragon form gives vulnerability to cold (+50% damage), so Sahme should have been taking 30 pts of cold damage instead of 20 pts from the cold fire shield.

Ok. When a summoned creature dies in this way, is it treated like a normal summoned creature death(sending it back to it's homeland)? Or is this a special case since it's about losing their soul?
In hindsight, it seems like a summoned creature might be hesitant to use this ability when summoned if there is a chance it can die.

In hindsight, it seems like a summoned creature might be hesitant to use this ability when summoned if there is a chance it can die. This is a very good point. Cos really, if the creature is actually on another plane, its soul would be totally out of range to reach anything on the Material Plane. Then again, the Summoning section does say that the creature is brought to the place it is summoned, but just that it doesn't really die if it is killed. I don't really have a good answer off the top of my head... other than it should work the same for the caster and the target, so either both die or neither die... I'll see if I can find any answers on the Paizo boards.

In-Character Chat: Reefwood, regarding the latest in-charcter thread; have people started building their bases yet? Or is it still in the out-of-character planning side?
And only Brian would have started his base yet, right?
Just want to get some timeline stuff right for the in character stuff.
Players' Concepts of Bases: For the other players, I am just curious about what kind of "bases" they are building. I am talking about in character motivations.
Is Brion building a castle for himself and his family? A temple/fortress to Gorum? A little bit of both?
Is Nihm looking into building a place to study and experiment in privacy away from public view?

Base / StrongholdReefwood: How big does a stronghold have to be to qualify for the leadership bonus? I answered this in email already but did want to address it on the boards for everyone else too. This is the same as the email: "As to the stronghold, a few things... if you just build one room with a wall around it, I'm not sure if that will be considered much of a stronghold, but if you build it up over time, then it would qualify. Also, this wouldn't be an instant bonus anyway. Even if you gained a castle somehow, the bonus would not kick in right away. You actually have to put it to use, so whether it's an instant castle that you use for a while (as opposed to just leaving it empty and unmanned most of the time), or a room that gets built up into an active base of operations over time, this bonus will take some time to come into effect. Another thing is that this bonus doesn't affect the cohort; only the followers care about a stronghold. And finally, Nim cannot do this [i.e. cast polymorph any object] during Time Off, but he can do it [i.e. cast spells for personal use] during mission time." In-Character Chat: Reefwood, regarding the latest in-charcter thread; have people started building their bases yet? Or is it still in the out-of-character planning side? And only Brian would have started his base yet, right? Just want to get some timeline stuff right for the in character stuff. The exact particulars of what was completed during Side Quest II are still not figured out, but no matter what, at best there will be nothing more than a stone slab on the ground, so there isn't even a room yet, and anymore construction will have to wait until the next mission or a future side quest. So, if you're wondering if there is a squad-created base to hang out in, the answer is definitely "no" at the current moment. Also, Brion is the only one who would have cast any spells to start building the base (i.e. stone slab), but Ghoul & Skeletor did help to gather boulders for it.

I think we were building one base for all of us. My thoughts are to slowly improve and grow it over time with castings of PAO. (With 11ft ceilings, each casting can add about a 11.5x11.5 ft room.)
Nimarious's goal is to have a tower for study and experimentation. He would be very happy tucked away in some distant place to do this on his own, but he recognizes that his followers are more social than him, and want to be around others, so he is willing to co-habitat.
(As a character, I think Nim would probably be more likely to go off and build his own, but as a player, I like the idea of us sticking together.)

Cool. This is all good to know. I am trying to figure out Sahme's outlook on everything and so want to have a clear idea of what the other characters are doing. On those regards Sahme is a member of the Sweetwarter Clan which has decendents from both a red dragon and a valkyrie of Gorum. That was laid out in his backstory, and I'm just brain storming on how that might come into play. Also, I was looking up Gorum stuff and one of his heralds is a Hezrou demon. So that is another example of how Gorum (and his worshipers) would be ok dealing with Evil (outsider) things as well as undead. This is on my mind because of Nihm and all he brings to the table (specifically how Sahme and his clan as a whole might feel about it.) To me, under the Faith of Gorum using archons and demons all seem acceptable. Only the battle concerns Gorum. So plenty of Sahme's clan would be fine, in their dogma, with working with demons and undead. I think Pathfinder makes greater allowances in blending Good and Evil things. ...just thinking out loud here. edit: AND Gorum using oppossed avatars (Good things like Archons and Evil things like Demons) makes a weird kind of sense. Should his herlads and servants engage on the battlefield it serves to honor Gorum.

Can a character multiclass with more than one prestige class? Not sure if it is what i really want but a cohort rogue/assassin with a dip in shadowdancer to get hide in plane sight could be a pretty sweet addition to the group. basically hide in shadows and jump out to make a death attack every five rounds.
