PLAYER CHARACTERS
Baron Coulin (played by michael): Venture, 12th Generation
Born the third son of a Saxon noble, Coulin’s mortal life held little chance at greatness. That was until Coulin was Embraced by a Norman Venture named Hildric. An ambitious but young vampire himself, Hildric swore allegiance to the ancient Mithras of London in exchange for support. Hildric overthrew a powerful Norman Venture, committed diablerie on him, and claimed control over New Castle.
For his assistance in the conquest Coulin was awarded his own lands and title east of New Castle, but his position is far from perfect. Hildric, a Norman, openly resentments Coulin’s Saxon heritage. Worse still, Hildric has granted the prized coastal city South Shield to his other childer, a Norman named Atilla. It seems Coulin is destined to play second fiddle.
Unnamed (played by reefwood): Gangrel, 11th Generation.
Born a merchant’s son Unnamed grew up in the bustling city of London. Unnamed’s forefathers followed William the Conqueror across the channel and their family prospered ever since. Then came the day Unnamed was sent north to establish trade agreements with the Saxons of New Castle.
The journey was interrupted when Unnamed met the wandering Gangrel, Lars. Unaware of Lars’ supernatural state the two shared a campsite and talked long into the night. When Unnamed woke in the morning Lars was gone. Unnamed saw no trace of Lars while he travelled by day, yet he appeared each night to continue their conversation. One night Lars finally embraced Unnamed and they left the roads and towns of men. They wandered the wilderness of Southern Britain from coast to coast. Lars showed Unnamed how to hunt where civilization and the wild lands meet, how to avoid the lupine territories, and warned of the ancient Gangrel of Wales who share their wilderness with no one.
For decades Unnamed hunted and learned the ways of the wilderness, but his mortal life was not forgotten. He remembered his unfinished journey to New Castle and inevitably came the night when he bid Lars to let him complete the trip. Lars gave Unnamed his blessing and the two parted ways.
Now in New Castle, Unnamed poses as the visiting uncle of a local lord. The vampire Prince Hildric has welcomed Unnamed to stay as long as he desires. So long as the prince's rule is obeyed.
Sir Benoit Galliard (played by enrich): Toreador, 12th Generation
Born a French noble, Galliard served in the First Crusade nearly a hundred years ago. He travelled with many other faithful knights across the Holy Lands until they finally reached the coveted city of Jerusalem. It is said many Crusaders wept upon seeing the city they had journeyed so long to reach, but their greatest tests were still to come. After weeks of waging a long and demoralizing siege the European forces finally broke into the holy city. Fueled by pent up frustrations and religious zeal the Christian forces ruthlessly butchered the inhabitants. The slaughter continued for a full day; Muslims and Jews alike were indiscriminately killed, prisoners were slaughtered.
When calm and order was restored many of the crusaders were forced to face the terrible atrocities they had committed. Benoit Galliard was one such knight. Disenchanted and heartsick, he sought solace in the Embrace of Kashifah al-Basri, an Arabian Toreador who felt compassion for the tormented knight. They loved one another deeply, but after a decade in the new Kingdom of Jerusalem Galliard left the Holy Land. After years of wandering, he joined the Norman effort to conquer the British Isles, and once there fell deeply in love with Lady Enid – the mirror image of her grandmother Lady Iola, Benoit’s mortal lover before leaving for the Crusade.
