I'm pondering running a strategy war game based off the D&D 3.5 rules. I haven't figured out the details, but wanted to see if there was any interest before I started diving into it. I was thinking something along the lines of each player gets a character with the leadership feat, and gets to choose their cohort and followers. The characters are the generals in a war and are expected to conquer a castle or town, depending on the level we play.
What are your thoughts? Any interest in something like this?

The miniatures info came to mind right away for me too. Not that I know much about how it all works... although, I may have looked at the book once or twice (or at least some other 3.5 book about large scale combat/warfare).
Where you thinking of this being a one-shot or something longer? Either way, I'm interested too!

I'm thinking a series of one or two-shots. Sort of the way a computer game segments out a larger campaign into small battles. "Your objective now is to take Fort Brenson."

This sounds really interesting. I was looking at leadership recently, thinking about incorporating it into a future character, and a game based around it would be incredibly fun.

Yeah, I would totally be into this. And just like others said, the DnD minitures series has info on this. I know there are lots of tactical feats and group tactical feats from the core mini book.
i was looking to find a Battle Master game set or the like to scratch this itch, too. Though the DnD with character background stuff would be pretty awesome.
I have that big table in the basement and think it would be rad to play a big battle game on it. that is actually what came to mind when i picked it up off a curb, way back when. i could even paint it and draw squares on it so we could use it and change the terrain... yeah, I could totally do that.

Icnivad - I noticed the domain expired on the forum you set up for this. Is it still going on?

Yeah, we had some domain expiration problems, but they should be fixed now. I still plan on running this game, and will pick it up after Burning Man in mid September.
