We had an old thread for this on a previous incarnation of these boards, but I just someone say "face time" on a podcast I was listening to, and I remembered how much I don't care for that phrase.
My old ones were, I think, "blog" and "mosh."

I know more than one girl that hates the word "moist."

Yeah, I get the feeling that's a pretty common one.

There was a story on this subject (i.e. hated words) on NPR somewhat recently. I heard it over the weekend, sometime in the past month or so, and just tried to look it up on their website but couldn't find it.

Cor blimey. "Bro," or the equivalent in the surfer vernacular, "bra."

"irregardless" because it is wrong
"the fact of the matter is" because it is often followed by some BS

"Literally" being used to describe something figurative.

"Newbie" or "noob" make me a little nauseous. Also, I don't really like the word "gamer," but I can't put my finger on why that's the case.

Also, I don't really like the word "gamer," but I can't put my finger on why that's the case. Because in the context it's being used, "game" isn't a verb. Everything else is verb-er, gamer is noun-er. It's like saying "baseballer," when you should be saying baseball player. It annoys me too.

sorry for jumping on this conversation a little late, but yeah, the literally one always bugs me, too, "I ate so much I literally exploded". "wait... what? how.."
Another that bugs the hell out of me is people who call you "buddy." Especially when you don't know them very well. It's a pretty sure fire way to let me know that you are not and never will be my "buddy."

It's a pretty sure fire way to let me know that you are not and never will be my "buddy." There is a teller at my work who always calls me 'hun' at the end of our phone conversations. To me; It is usually something an elder woman would say to a child, but she is younger then me and I am usually telling her information she did not know.
