Hey, Michael, since this is going to be an open-ended game, do you want me to set up a campaign forum for it? Yeah, that'd be great.

Just to double check... we are playing tomorrow (Thursday), but what time and where?

Powers that appeal to me are flight, space travel, and perhaps some energy blast; but I am more interested in the Jack of All Trades feat and other skill heavy options.
I also like some power origins coming from technology (perhaps some alien) and then even arcane knowledge. Like he merges them both to create a 'battle suit.' Some influences from established comics (Dr Doom, Dr Strange, and Ironman.)
I also like the idea of him recently being outed (his secret identity made public) due to some personal embarresment. Perhaps he is an alchoholic and he let it get out of hand. Had a DUI, maybe he is still on parole... Nothing so extreme as to make the other heroes reject him, but rather they think he is recovering and they want to give him a second chance.
EDIT: so yeah, I am thinking of making this person indepentently wealthy and pretty well known (hero and personal.)

Just to double check... we are playing tomorrow (Thursday), but what time and where? Would you and Mikey mind hosting? I think you have the best setup for it. 7:30 was being thrown about when we thought we were playing DnD that night. Does that time still work for everyone?

7:30 works for me. I could even make it by 6:30 or 7:00.
As far as my character goes, I'm thinking of a priest that was kind of a peace activist type. One day, while leading a rally outside some kind of experimental weapons-testing facility, there was some kind of horrible accident, and he was caught in an explosion. When he came to, he was blind - but also telepathic and telekinetic. Would that work for you, Michael?

Yeah, that character sounds great.
I'd be fine starting earlier if Mikey and Franco can make it. Also, Harry, can I stop by your place beforehand and raid some of your things? I was hoping to grab a use some heroclix figures, maybe that dry-erase grid you have, and a GM shield.

Yeah, that's no problem. I should be home by 6:30.

I will be home around 6pm and people are welcome to come anytime around/after then. Rock!

I should be home by 6pm as well, at the very least so that I can start the character creation process a little bit before everyone else arrives. Woo to more gaming!

Hero, The Guardians need you!
The Galactic Guardians are seeking out people willing to use their abilities to further the cause of peace, justice, and freedom in the world! We think you have the potential to work with us, and would like to offer you the opportunity to join your ranks.
There will be a series of tests to measure your ability and determine if you're Guardian material. Be prepared at the appointed time! We hope you will answer our call and we look forward to meeting you.
Sincerely, Paragon, chairman Galactic Guardians (earth chapter)
P.S. - I apologize for the form letter. Guardian guidelines insist that all initial invitations must come from the chairman, and, as you might imagine he's a very busy man.
Even if you're not interested in becoming a Guardian, we'd like for you to come aboard. Just a formal meet and greet, establish working relationships throughout the hero population. People in our line of work rarely bother with that, unless there's a fight involved.
Also, the aforementioned "appointed time" will be 6:30. Find a secluded place and make sure you have this letter on your person. It will allow us to locate you for transport to our satellite.
Sincerely Julian T. Gorilla, P.H.D.
EDIT: [So I tried to send this as a personal message to all of you, but it kept telling me that enric wasn't an appropriate user-name. Anyway, I might show up at 6 to Mikey and Franco's to go over some character creation, then run over to Harry's at 6:30 to pick up the stuff I need. See everyone tomorrow.]

-mikey here- Hey, so is it too late to alter the backgtround/type of character I play? The idea I have been toying with is closer to a Batman/Detective Comics style. Meaning a highly skilled human with some gadgets but his greatest wespon is his mind. For back story I was thinking that he is a (former) police detective. Years ago he took up a secret identity to fight his city's crime in ways his badge would not let him. A criminal mastermind, The Misfit, was his greatest foe and challenge from the begining. Within this last year in a climatic battle The Misfit died (despite this hero's attempt to prevent his death) and this hero's secret identity was revealed in front of many witnesses and live news cameras. He was found not at fault for the villian's death, but as an outed vigilanty he was forced to turn in his badge. And every minor criminal in the city was now coming for him. His house was burned down, and his social life falls apart. So without much left for him perhaps starting in a new 'district' might be just what is called for. How does that sound? I kind of like it a bit more.

Yeah, not too late to change things. The new character works fine.

From the Memoirs of Halo My war with The Misfit had many casualties. Lives lost or ruined; unknown costs to the city and its people. Ironically, the final victim of The Misfit was himself. He always told me he was the greatest kingpin the world had ever known, but somewhere along the way he slipped. Defeating me became more important than his empire. These last few years he was reckless. It terrified me. I kept asking myself, “What had I unleashed upon my city?”
Read any newspaper and you know how it ended. Mortally wounded by his own booby-trap The Misfit died in my arms on the courthouse steps. Oh, it was damn Shakespearean alright. With his dying breath he unmasked me in front of a gawking crowd. So even in death, he got to me. My secret identity revealed brought on many fast changes. As a known vigilantly I was forced to turn in my badge. Anyone connected to my personal life was now in danger from every villain and minion in the city. My born identity, Drake Watson, went underground.
But the city is a better place. Without its figure head, The Misfit’s criminal empire has splintered into several smaller gangs. They are unorganized and the city’s police seem to have a handle on them.
This Letter from the Galactic Guardians has me thinking…perhaps it is time to expand my jurisdiction…

With one final blast, the metal monstrosity tumbles to the ground, no longer recognizable as the hero it was meant to imitate. Taking no chances and wasting no time, you quickly set upon the creature's remains and proceed to dismantle it piece by piece. In minutes, the floor is strewn with hunks of metal, smashed chips and torn cables as it is reduced to its component parts.
You all finally feel ready to relax, when it happens. Without warning, a bright white light fills every corner of the room, sensed even by those with no eyes. It blankets your world for mere moments, then rapidly contracts into a sphere, perhaps 7 feet in diameter, in the center of the room. As the ball of light fades, a figure starts to take shape. Before its features become visible, you hear it's panicked voice.
"When am I? Did I make it in time?!"
The last of the light dissipates, and the new arrival is able to take in his surroundings. He stumbles forward and continues talking, almost babbling.
"Your battle with the Paragondroid! Then you've all just become Guardians! Thank goodness, there's still time. We can still prevent it! Guardians, I have to warn you! Chronus is coming!" With those words uttered, the new arrival collapses.
Exhausted from your ordeal, the sudden appearance of this mysterious stranger is not a welcome one. He comes with portents of danger, but falls unconscious before he can reveal its nature? Was this Chronus following him? Is the threat minutes away, or months? For now, all any of you can do is wait.
I'll finish wrapping up the post-game events a bit later.

After heading to the medical bay to tend to your wounds and find a bed for your strange new arrival, you rest and take stock. With power now returned to the station, Halo began to look through the computer system once more. (The power came back moments before your fight with the Paragondroid began. I can't remember if I actually mentioned this during the game or not, but I was supposed to.) After a thorough search, he found (and decrypted) an encrypted file on the Paragondroid. It contained detailed instructions for building it, along with its capabilities.
Armed with this knowledge, it's fairly easy for him to piece together what happened. Power in the station went down due to the massive power drain, a result of the Paragondroid pluging itself into the station's core in order to charge up its batteries. The Paragondroid takes massive amounts of energy to fuel its operations, and the core in this station is one of the only places in the solar system capable of supplying that much raw power. Had he been allowed to charge up uninterrupted, he could have become as powerful as the actual Paragon, perhaps even stronger.
More to come.
