I can't do Friday, but I can't really do Wednesday or any other day next weekend, either. If Friday works for everyone else, why don't you folks go ahead without me for a session. PS. Rabbit, I updated my character - I'll post his new stats after I get back into town on Sunday. I wouldn't want other people missing out cos I screwed up my schedule, and it looks like there may be a party at our house on Friday or Saturday (which is something else I'd forgotten about). Since there doesn't seem to be any other good night, I'd say just keep the game on Tuesday, and I might miss out. Will we be starting out in Marsh Bay? If so and I'm not there, Darven could be busy doing something for his goblin hunter permit. Renewing it or something.

OK, is everyone (other than reefwood) good for Tuesday, the 10th?
I hope so. See you then!

Some quick questions before our game on Tuesday.
Should I assume I'll be able to find a buyer for my Short Spear of Returning in Marsh's Bay?
Is it possible to add enhancements onto an already enchanted item? If I bought a +1 shield now, could I pay money later to turn it into a +2, or a Wild Shield, or does that all have to be done at the time of creation?
Can you add enhancements onto the specific armors from the DMG? I was looking in particular at the rhino hide armor. Could I turn that into Wild Rhino Hide, and if so, how much would that cost? Wild is a +3 enhancement, and the Rhino hide normally costs 5,165. It is described as a +2 hide armor with 2d6 extra damage on charging. (I know it's well out of my price range now, but I'd like to plan for the future.)
If I wanted to buy armor made of dragonhide, would I be able to? Are the materials available in large cities?

You can add more enhancements to an already existing magic item. The cost can depend on the type of enhancement and item, but usually you just have to cover the price difference. Armor with a +2 bonus costs 4,000 gp and adding a +3 bonus to it would give it a total +5 bonus which costs 25,000 gp, so the upgrade would cost 21,000 gp.

You will be able to find a buyer for the spear of returning. (but does anyone remember if magic items are usually sold at a reduced price like used mundane items? i want to go by the general rule in the DMG but don't have a copy with me.) *As a general rule it will be easier to sell magic items than it is to buy them. It can also depend on where you are. A place like Marsh Bay; a large cosmopolitan port-city that also has a high arcanist population will be pretty easier to find what you want (or pay someone to make it.) Again in general, if you are seeking out magic items players should run them by me. And reefwood was right about the other stuff.

Thanks for the info. That's pretty much what I figured, but thought I should make sure.
My to do list in Marsh's bay:
Sell my spear: +4150.5 Sell my +1 Leather Armor: +580 Buy a +1 Darkwood shield: -1182 Buy a +1 Dragonhide Breastplate: -1700 Buy a Darkwood Tower Shield: -295
One more question. Could an amulet be put on an animal? If so, I may also buy a +1 amulet of natural armor for 2000.

To answer Rabbit... magic equipment sells at half price just like mundane equipment. Thanks for the info. That's pretty much what I figured, but thought I should make sure. My to do list in Marsh's bay: Sell my spear: +4150.5 Sell my +1 Leather Armor: +580 Buy a +1 Darkwood shield: -1182 Buy a +1 Dragonhide Breastplate: -1700 Buy a Darkwood Tower Shield: -295 One more question. Could an amulet be put on an animal? If so, I may also buy a +1 amulet of natural armor for 2000. A darkwood shield is a heavy wooden shield made of darkwood. The cost/weight of a heavy wooden shield is: Shield, heavy wooden 7 gp, 10 lb. This is for a Medium humanoid, so for a Small humanoid, it would be: Shield, heavy wooden 7 gp, 5 lb. A darkwood item costs the same as a masterwork version of the item, plus 10 gp per pound of the original weight: Shield, heavy wooden = 7 gp +150 gp masterwork + (10 gp x 5 lb) = 207 gp. The +1 enhancement brings it up to 1,207 gp. Using this same math has a darkwood tower shield at: 30 gp + 150 gp masterwork +(10 gp x 22.5 lb) = 405 gp The dragonshide breastplate looks good. And if I'm off on my darkwood math, just let me know. I am bit sleepy from working all day.

I had based my math on the weight of the darkwood, not of the original shield. The extra few gold doesn't deter me.

Hey, would anybody mind if we played at my house tomorrow? I didn't realize that Cara had already made plans with some friends prior to our working out this weekly schedule.

Sorry I haven't been particularly active on here, I've been swamped these last few weeks.
I'm cool with selling the ring of regeneration. 1 hp per level per hour does not seem worth the 90k that the ring is worth, or even the 45 that it's resale is worth since we have two healers in the party. Assuming we can even find a buyer, and if not, it might be an interesting plot point. Kuvpax's alignment is slightly questionable, especially after the kobold incident, so he does not mind wearing an evil item any more than he would mind wearing a good item.
It looks like Kuvpax still has some skills and a feat to chose before he's leveled. I'll try to finish that up today so I can post before the game.
As for items he might be interested in, a couple that come to mind: Ring of sustenance - 2500gp - 8 hrs rest with just 2 hrs. or Fortifying bedroll - 3000gp - 8 hrs rest with just 1 hr. - one of these makes a lot of sense for my character because he's a natural at taking watch, and this way he could take watch for 8 hrs while everyone else sleeps, then sleep for 1 while other characters meditate, pray, etc. If everybody had one of these, we could get by on 2 hrs sleep a night with two watches. Or maybe we buy one of these as a group and use it however we see fit? Handy Haversack - 2000gp - like bag of holding or Bag of Holding 1 - 2500gp - always handy for loot carrying. Hat of Disguise - 1800gp - alter self at will - Not entirely sure how he would use this, but might come in handy. *Mithril Chain Shirt +1 - 2250gp [100(chain)+150(mst)+1000(mith)+1000(magic)] - would improve my AC by 2 without changing the max dex from my current armor. *Lead Lined hidden pocket - +11gp - add a hidden pocket to my cloak. Lead lining prevents magic detection, etc. Anti Impact - +2000gp - this can be added to any armor to half large bludgeoning damage (like constricting or falling, not weapons). - makes sense for Kuvpax because his attraction to heights means he will likely fall occasionally. *Slippers of Spider Climbing - 4800gp - Not sure I can afford this at the moment, but it's something I'm very interested in at some point. *Darkness permanencied onto an object - ??gp - I'm not sure how much this would cost, but I plan on asking the wizards if they would be willing to make this for me.
Stars denote items I am particularly interested in.
In my searches I came across a couple of items that I think the group or other players might be interested in. One of which is Artificers Monocle, which does not need an artificer to use. It allows someone who has 5 points in knowledge(arcana) to identify an item with a detect magic. Basically adding a 4th round where the user identifies the properties of that item. It is 1500gp, which I think might be worth us all chipping in for.
I also found an item that I thought Reefwood's character might be interested in, Changeling weapon enhancement costs +2000gp and allows a spear, shortspear, or longspear to change it's length with command word turning into any of the above three weaponse. Could be useful so you don't have to keep dropping your range weapon in order to enter melee. Also, you can upgrade a single weapon rather than multiple, which might save cost in the long run.
And I'm down with dropping the 2 skill points for a custom sign language if other people are.
